Jordan Wine Estate is situated in Stellenbosch, the heart of the Cape Winelands, and boasts panoramic views of Table Mountain, False Bay and the Stellenbosch Mountains.
This family-owned estate, established in 1982, has been transformed to become one of the leading estates in South Africa. The first Jordan wines were made in 1993 by husband-and-wife winemaking team, Gary and Kathy Jordan in their state-of-the-art cellar. The estate features a wine tasting centre, rolling lawns, luxury accommodation, a bakery and a world-class restaurant, where visitors can relax and enjoy fine Cape wines and local Cape fare surrounded by breathtaking views of the vineyards.
Unique by Nature’s Design, the Jordan slopes face North, South, East, and West, with vineyards lying at differing altitudes from 160 to 410 m above sea level.
The vineyards with their close proximity to both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans benefit from coastal fog and cool breezes. A mild Mediterranean climate with a maritime influence minimizes the risk of frost damage.
The soils at Jordan have evolved from 600 million year old Cape Granite, and range from deep, well-drained clay-loam to gravelly and sandy duplex soils situated on clay.
The Jordan philosophy is simple: Success begins in the vineyards. The exceptional wines produced at Jordan are made possible by careful management of the farm’s extensive natural assets through innovative canopy management and selecting varieties and clones specifically suited to the various soils and slopes.
By combining the vineyards’ natural assets with innovative vineyard management and strict maintenance, Jordan Wine Estate produces wines that have a profound expression of terroir.
Jordan Wine Estate also has a deep respect for nature, evident in the selection of indigenous flora and fauna found on the farm, ensuring that the land is preserved for future generations.
